Come join us at Rookwood Pottery for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Over-the-Rhine production facility with a special focus on their current handmade tile offering. There has been a series of updates in their production area that they are excited to share.

India Boyer: Ohio’s First Female Registered Architect
In 1941, India Boyer became the first female architect registered by examination in the State of Ohio. She joined the American Institute of Architects the following year, becoming AIA Cincinnati’s first female member. During this program, we’ll look at some of Boyer’s original drawings and papers, and hear from early Boyer Guild members who had the opportunity to meet Boyer before her death in 1998. A reception with AIAS students will follow.

Architecture Matters Panel Discussion
The recent Architecture Matters article in Soapbox, Deliberating the D Word (Density), considered the impact of density on cities, including its benefits and challenges. To continue the discussion, architects representing a range of backgrounds and experiences will discuss the big-picture issues around density.

Lunch & Learn: Meeting your Design and Performance Requirements with Pultruded Fiberglass Windows and Doors
By examining the performance characteristics, durability and numerous environmental advantages of pultruded fiberglass, the course will outline the advantages of windows and doors made from pultruded fiberglass and use case studies to demonstrate applications across a wide variety of multi-family and commercial build environments where sustainability, durability and human experience are prioritized. 1 LU/HSW.

Ilana Judah, AIA, OAQ, LEED AP, CPHC Lecture - The 5 Ws (+1 H) of climate resilience for design professionals
Architects, engineers, and design professionals have a key role to play in developing a more climate resilient built environment from planning and design phases through construction and post-occupancy. Using case study examples, this session will present a framework to approach resilience through six key questions: Why is resilience relevant? Resilience to what? Resilience for whom? When do we need to plan for? Where do we take action? and How do we implement it? 1 LU/HSW.
AIA Cincinnati 2024 Golf Scramble
Join your colleagues and friends for a day of golf followed by lunch, prizes, and more! The outing will be held at Pebble Creek, an 18-hole golf course in Cincinnati. The AIA Cincinnati Golf Scramble helps support chapter programs that benefit the local architectural community including continuing education, professional development, and local advocacy efforts.
Road Trip: Koetter Woodworking Plant Tour
This AIA course features a comprehensive, educational tour of the Koetter Woodworking manufacturing facility in Borden, Indiana. Beginning with the kiln drying and rough mill operation, participants will learn about the importance of proper drying of raw materials used in the manufacture of millwork and doors. The tour will cover, in depth, all aspects of how wood mouldings are manufactured, from drawing to finished product. Participants will see, first hand, how virtually 100% of the wood fiber is used during the production process. RSVP BY JUNE 7 - 5 LU/HSW.

The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame: Enhancing Urban Environments Through Thoughtful Planting Design
The Black Music Walk of Fame celebrates the untold stories of Black artists and musicians from Cincinnati, Ohio. This dynamic public park brings together people of all ages and cultures, emphasizing the value of equitable spaces within the community. SOLD OUT - At Home on the Water: Gotham Place Home Tour
The Gotham Place residence was designed as a home and spiritual retreat. Sited on the banks of the Ohio River, with views up and down the river valley, the house is a sacred space to accommodate the owner’s occupational, social, and recreational needs. Tour the space to learn about primary design considerations, including the home’s location in the floodplain, the desire to achieve LEED Platinum certification, and specific geometrical, numerological, and astrological requirements. 1 LU/HSW.

Diana Nicklaus, FAIA, Lecture - Saam Architecture: An Intentional Practice Experiment
Saam Architecture was founded in 2014 as a hybrid practice. Realizing this would be an experiment, the firm was structured to support remote work, “radical” flexibility, and unlimited vacation. Nearly ten years later, including the industry’s pandemic evolution to selective remote work, Saam remains a unique practice model. Saam co-founder and CEO Diana Nicklaus will share lessons learned from this business philosophy as well as how this practice model enables equity, attracts a diverse staff, and keeps talent in the profession. 1 LU/HSW.

Christian Solorio, AIA, NOMA, LFA, LEED AP is a registered architect, problem solver and servant leader who has embedded community engagement and advocacy into his career. He is able to leverage his skills as a designer and connections within the community to provide cross-sector design solutions to make a positive impact in underserved and underrepresented neighborhoods. Advanced Aluminum Cladding: Making an Impact Through Responsible Material Selection for High Performance Buildings
This course focuses on the climate challenges facing our world, the impact of the building industry on the environment, and addressing embodied carbon reduction through responsible material selection and specification.
