LED Tech: 10 Myths Busted

LED lighting is no longer new, but common misconceptions remain. This session will review ten of the most popular misunderstandings of LED Lighting, explain the flaw in thought, and then share how a user can turn them from a negative to a positive aspect of lighting design. FCC and warranties related to LED will also be discussed.

The ten misconceptions are:

  1. LED are blue
  2. How do we know LED will last 40,000 hours?
  3. LED is still changing, I’ll wait
  4. LED is too expensive
  5. Lighting is too small a portion of the electric bill to worry about it
  6. LED lighting is not as bright as incandescent
  7. I don’t know how to select LED lighting
  8. LED don’t dim
  9. LED flicker
  10. LED do not produce heat

Information on how the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) interacts with LED technology and how to use luminaire warranties on LED products to your advantage will also be shared.
