The Grand Opening of the Cincinnati Center for Architecture + Design (CCAD) was a huge success! Thank you to Cincinnati City Councilmen Jeff Pastor, and P.G. Sittenfeld for joining in and recognizing the tremendous value that our local design organizations and leaders provide to our community. AIA Cincinnati President Greg Tilsley, AIA, led the charge, along with Executive Director Pat Daugherty, Hon. AIA, in making this happen.
The vision and purpose for the center located in Over-the-Rhine is to create an environment and physical space where design professionals, students, community leaders, etc. can collaborate and create solutions that foster growth and vibrant Cincinnati communities.
The opening of the CCAD is a result of the unrelenting efforts of past and current leaders of the Cincinnati American Institute of Architects, the Ohio American Society of Landscape Architects, the American Society of Interior Designers Ohio South/Kentucky Chapter, the Ohio Kentucky International Interior Design Association and the Society of Experiential Graphic Design Cincinnati/N. Kentucky.
Special acknowledgement is extended to the following for making the time to attend and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony: National AIA Secretary Bruce Sekanick, FAIA; AIA Ohio President John Wiegand, AIA; AIA Strategic Council Member Timothy Hawk, FAIA; ASLA Ohio VP Business Affairs Robert Slavens, ASLA; IIDA Ohio Kentucky Public Relations Coordinator Kate Klaus, IIDA; SEGD Cincinnati/N. Kentucky Co Chair Grania Frueh SEGD; and ASID Ohio South/Kentucky Membership Director Suzanne Carney, ASID.
We really appreciated the enthusiasm and spirit of collaboration from all design professionals, college students, contractors, industry sponsors, and community leaders.
Stay tuned for activities and events hosted at the CCAD over the coming months. One of the next events is “LookUp Cincinnati,” which will occur in concert with the Taste of Cincinnati weekend on May 25-26, 2018. This two-part effort kicks off on Friday, May 25th, with a LookUp Sketchy Happy Hour napkin sketch contest and continues on Saturday, May 26thm with a LookUp Cincinnati Architecture Scavenger Hunt, an invitation to kids of all ages to look up and see the special details in and around our beautiful city.
