2017 Residential Color & Design Trends
This presentation focuses on the Residential Color & Design Trends of 2017, as researched and identified by PPG’s international team of color experts & specialists in North America, Europe, and Asia, in the areas of architecture, automotive, consumer products and aerospace. Throughout the creation of this work, our teams are constantly reviewing the information for evidence of a word or topic that conveys an idea that can be linked to each new trend. This year, that theme is Pendulum, pendulums require an event of force to begin moving. Once they begin, they arc steadily away from their origin, faster at first and then reducing speed, before eventually coming to an almost indiscernible halt at a new location. Almost instantly, the pendulum’s anchor point draws it backwards towards its starting point. Trends are similar in that they have a force behind their beginning, move at a steady speed, they eventually slow to a point at which stop before quickly embarking into another swing.
