AIA Ohio is seeking candidates to serve on the 2019 AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury. The jury will be composed of five individuals, selected by the 2020 AIA Ohio President. The jury will include an AIA Ohio Gold Medal recipient, as well as a member from an AIA Ohio Gold Medal Firm. The remaining three jurors may be selected by the President from a pool of nominees submitted via this Call for Nominations, subject to Board approval. The President has the right to select from those nominated or appoint other members as appropriate to comply with AIA Ohio policies. At least ten days prior to the first meeting of the year, the President shall provide to the Board, the candidates nominated for the AIA Ohio Honors Awards Jury. The Board shall have the authority to accept, reject, or amend the President’s nominations. It is recommended that individuals serving on the AIA Ohio Board of Directors not apply for appointment to the jury.

Apply online to be considered for the AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury. Applications must be submitted by December 20, 2019.

The Honor Awards Jury will:

  • Evaluate all submissions for AIA Ohio Honor Awards against each award’s criteria.
  • Meet in person as a jury at the AIA Ohio Offices (likely in June) to review the Honor Awards submissions.
  • Document evaluations, including each submission’s strengths and weaknesses, in writing and submit to the AIA Ohio Executive Director.
  • Select a chair who shall preside over the jury process and who shall be responsible for submitting the written report.
  • Designate a jury member to present the jury comments to the AIA Ohio Board of Directors.

Through the evaluation process, the AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury may determine that a submission does not meet the award criteria. However, all submissions, with their Honor Awards Jury evaluations, will be considered by the AIA Ohio Board of Directors.

Any member can submit an application for the AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury. The AIA Ohio President will make his/her selections and announce the Jury members at the first board meeting of the year. The AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury will be noted on the Call for Entries for the AIA Ohio Honor Awards, which is sent to the membership in February. Individuals may serve a maximum of two years in a ten year period as a member of the AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury. Members of the AIA Ohio Honor Awards Jury may NOT write letters of recommendation for candidates submitted for honor awards during their tenure on the jury.
