2020 has been a crazy year to say the least. AIA Ohio is responding by throwing our playbook out of the window and is making changes…big changes…to our programs, starting with the Awards Program.

First – It will be VIRTUAL! We don’t have a date yet, but when we do we’ll announce it. Design award winners will not be notified in advance that they have won, so plan to submit your best work and hold a watch party at the office. Honor award recipients will also be recognized and saluted for their contributions. It promises to be a fun (socially distant) virtual celebration!

Second – We recognize that architects and firms are struggling. So we are REDUCING THE COST for design award submissions this year to $150. We want to see your best design recognized here in Ohio – take advantage of the reduced pricing and submit more than one!

Third – It does no good to reduce the price and then not give time to put together a submission. So we are pushing back the deadline for Design Award submissions to Monday, August 3, 2020.

The AIA Ohio Honor Awards Program is not impacted by these changes: the deadline is still June 12, and there is no cost to submit for the AIA Ohio Honor Awards: Gold Medal, Gold Medal Firm, Mentor Award, Public Service Award and this year’s new award: AIA Ohio Emerging Professional Award. You can learn more about these and find the link to submit here.

These changes are designed to remove any barriers keeping you from participating in the AIA Ohio Design Awards Program this year. 2020 kicked off with a series of challenges—AIA Ohio is working hard to meet these head on and continue our mission of advocating for Ohio’s architects and great design!
