AIA Cincinnati is a chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), dedicated to serving its members by advancing their value while improving the quality of the built environment.  We serve our members by advancing their value through active governmental advocacy, community outreach, continuing education, marketing, mentoring and networking.  We serve our community by providing and encouraging leadership through volunteer involvement, public forums, and design award programs. 

AIA is a three-tiered organization.  Members join and maintain membership at all applicable levels - local, state and national.  AIA Cincinnati also offers an Affiliate Membership for Landscape Architects, Engineers, product suppliers, vendors, and other industry related professionals.  Chapter Partners receive a complimentary Affiliate Membership to AIA Cincinnati. 

Architect Member (AIA)

Open to architects who are currently licensed to practice architecture. A copy of your current license is required to process membership.

Associate Member (Assoc. AIA) 

Associate Member Application

Open to individuals who
• are interns participating in career responsibilities recognized by licensing authorities as constituting credit toward licensure; or,
• work under the supervision of an Architect in a professional or technical capacity; or
• hold a professional degree in architecture (provide a copy of your architecture degree); or
• work as faculty member in a university program of architecture.

International Associate Architect Member (International Assoc. AIA)

Open to individuals who hold an architecture license or equivalent from a non-U.S. licensing authority (provide a copy of your current license).

AIA Cincinnati Affiliate (Chapter Membership Only)

Open to professionals in the design community who are not registered Architects or architectural students.  Affiliate Memberships are approved by the local Board of Directors.  The AIA Cincinnati Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

AIA Cincinnati Education Affiliate (Chapter Membership Only)

Open to AIA Continuing Education Providers and industry related companies desiring to provide AIA Cincinnati members Continuing Education programs. Education Affiliate Memberships are approved by the local Board of Directors. The AIA Cincinnati Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

2012 AIA New Member Dues Table

Note:  New member dues are prorated as follows: 1) First Quarter (January 1 - March 30) at 100%; 2) Second Quarter (April 1 - June 30) at 75%; 3) Third Quarter (July 1 - September 30) at 50%; and 4) Fourth Quarter (October 1 - December 31) at 100% with membership good through end of the following year.  Schedule applies to all three levels of membership. The chart below does not reflect any dues reductions.

DUES DEDUCTIBILITY

For federal income purposes, payments to the AIA and its state components are not deductible as charitable deductions but are generally deductible as trade or business expenses, except for the percentage expended on lobbying federal or state governments.
