AIA Cincinnati conducts design awards programs to allow you to receive recognition from your peers for your quality work and shape public opinion on what constitutes quality design. Each year, AIA Cincinnati holds a competition focusing on quality architectural design open to members and non-members. Entrants can enter categories such as new construction, unbuilt work, and distinguished details. Entries are received late in the calendar year just prior to a review by a jury of experts.
Jury: AIA Cincinnati seeks a jury of leaders within the profession to judge the work of local architects. The jury generally is composed of three professionals. The principle juror is generally an architect of national renown. In recent years, principle jurors have included Ralph Johnson, Terry Sargent, Andrea Leers, and Todd Williams. Supporting jurors include noted professionals from the region who may not recognize the work of local architects. The jury meets during the day prior to the presentation of awards. If possible, the principle juror provides a lecture on his or her work that is open to members as well as students.
Ceremony: Awards are presented at the Cincinnati Design Awards banquet. This event is co-sponsored by the AIA and affiliated design organizations and is held at a major venue within the greater Cincinnati area. It affords a significant opportunity for members to display their talents to the local media in a highly public venue.
